Beer Pong Madness

Drinking Games
Drinking games have been around since the beginning of time. Sure the fundamentals may have changed over the years, but the end result is still the same…mass amounts of drinking in small amounts of time. Whether you have a big group of people together or maybe just a few friends over, a simple drinking game can add a lot of fun to the night.
One such game that has quickly become a huge hit at every college party, tailgate party and pubs across the county is Beirut, or you might know it by it’s more popular (and easier to spell) name, Beer Pong.

College Campus Games
Even though Beer Pong has been around for decades, its arrival in mainstream America college campuses has only been within the last ten years. Today, it seems as if most people at least knows of beer pong’s existence, and can easily picture teams of two standing opposite each other across a long table. At each end of the table semi-full cups of beer can be found “racked” pyramid style with empty cups littering both sides of the table. Welcome to the wonderful world of Beer Pong!
Beer Pong Tournaments
I had never heard of this game until recently when my son came home from college proudly carrying in a huge Beer Pong trophy to display on our kitchen table. Apparently he had won the Beer Pong tournament at his Fraternity house making him some sort of hero to his many brothers there. Ok, so this is what I’m thinking! It’s not the good grades or being a helping hand in the community or even making the Dean’s list that makes this mother stand up and notice! No, it’s the fact that my son is the ultimate King of Beer Pong at his Fraternity House that makes me say, “I’m so proud”!
Aside from the fact that my son apparently is as good at “racking” up his plastic cups into pyramids for Beer Pong as he is in “racking” up his credit card, the game really is fun to play. It can also be played with non-alcoholic beer or juice, but when I mentioned that to him, well by the time he stopped laughing I figured that wasn’t the way the game is supposed to be played.
I’m sure the grocery stores on college campuses everywhere are having trouble keeping those ever popular plastic cups in stock and ping pong balls are being sold to people that have never even seen a ping pong table, but it’s all in good fun! It’s become so big that don’t be surprised if you find that on any given night your local neighborhood bar is hosting a Beer Pong Master Tournament!
One thing is for certain though; Beer Pong is here to stay!
